What a Christmas present!

I am delighted to say that Mr. Jerry Saltz, Senior Art Critic at the New York Magazine, has given a short review on Twitter, saying “Love this” in reference to ‘The Rebellious Slave‘ with this review:

Love this. Don’t know this artist but see her work on Twitter & really dig @Deborahryle. Here after Michelangelo “Slave”.

My work received some extra attention after this! What a lovely Christmas present!

Mr. Saltz is generous in his opinion, and I understand that it is an important one to art buyers and collectors, so I’ll be sure to run any up and coming artwork past him as I move ahead with my next projects. All the time that I have been a struggling artist becomes worthwhile in the end!

Everywhere from the Royal household to the Job Centre in Wells, has taken an interest for the past 12 years, but it’s especially wonderful to have such a delightful comment from a well respected member of the art world.

I am very lucky to be doing a job that I love doing, it doesn’t feel like work at all!

Dinner With A Local MP

As a member of various local and national societies, including the Corsham Arts Society and The SAA, I am sometimes invited to dinners, meetings and social gatherings.

Last Thursday 3rd December, I was invited to Dinner with the Rt. Hon. Sajid Javid MP, with the local Conservative Party.

I had an interesting evening, meeting and greeting some local business representatives, members of council, including Teresa Hutton, and a handful of people interested in the arts. I gave out some business cards and did a little networking, and over all, thoroughly enjoyed my evening out.

Hopefully, from the networking, I will get some more interest and business. Fingers crossed!
